Black Sesame & Strawberry Chiffon Cake

Black sesame has always been a favorite dessert flavor profile of mine. Popular in the Asian culture, I practically grew up on eating black sesame desserts, like the oh-so-comforting Chinese sweet black sesame soup and black sesame dumplings. There’s just something about sweetening that nutty and slightly bitter taste that makes my heart, and stomach, full.

Elote, also known as Mexican street corn, is absolutely one of my favorite ways to eat corn. The only downside is that it gets messy eating that buttery, chili powdered, lime-covered corn on a cob. So when I was checking out the the San Francisco Street Food Festival a few years ago, I was so delighted to see and try esquites, a dish very similar to elotes, but without all the mess, for the very first time.
